Kevin McKeown - Head Coach
McKeown (pronounced mi-CUE-in) enters his fifth season at the helm of the Binghamton men’s lacrosse program in 2021.

He was named head coach on July 18, 2016 and quickly transformed the Bearcats into a conference contender.

Last year, the Bearcats played six games before the men's lacrosse season was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

His 2017 squad set a new program record for wins in a season (11) and advanced to the America East championship game for just the second time in Binghamton lacrosse history. The Bearcats finished the season ranked eighth in the country in scoring defense (8.19 GAA) and fourth in man down defense (.789). In addition, Coach McKeown was named America East Coach of the Year while two members of the 2017 team were named USILA Honorable Mention All-Americans and three were named to the America East First-Team.

Prior to his arrival at Binghamton, McKeown was the defensive coordinator at Bellarmine University for two seasons. At Bellarmine, he helped the Knights secure their first-ever postseason berth in his final season. Previously, he served as an interim head coach at Binghamton for the 2011 season, leading the Bearcats to the America East tournament. McKeown worked as the defensive coordinator and goalie coach at BU from 2008-2011. In 2013, he was the defensive coordinator at Siena and coached an All-MAC defensemen and tutored a goalkeeper who played in the 2013 USILA North-South game.

The native of Brewster, New York, is one of the most decorated athletes in Binghamton lacrosse history. He earned USILA All-America honors in 2004, becoming the first Division I athlete to receive this recognition at Binghamton. McKeown was the anchor for one of the top defenses in the nation, as Binghamton allowed no more than eight goals in conference play and advanced to the America East Championship game. He went on to take all-conference awards three times in his career and picked up Scholar All-America connotation in 2006. He was inducted into the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014.

After getting a masters degree at Elmira College in 2008, McKeown returned to his alma mater to serve as an assistant coach. He eventually took over the program for the 2011 campaign, and guided a team picked to finish last in the preseason poll to a second-pace finish in the regular season.

Tyler Perrelle - Assistant Coach

Tyler Perrelle joined the Binghamton men's lacrosse staff in September 2021. A former Bearcat captain, Perrelle came from Marist, where he had served as an assistant on the Red Foxes staff since 2019.

Perrelle graduated from Binghamton in 2013 with a degree in human development after a record-setting career that included three seasons of tutelage under McKeown. He tallied a school-record 55 career assists and his 110 career points from the midfield ranks second all-time at Binghamton. Perrelle was an America East All-Rookie (2010) and All-Championship (2011) selection and was team MVP in 2012. He was on the 2013 Preseason Tewaaraton Award Watchlist and played in 56 career games, fourth-most in program history.

He made his coaching debut at Marywood University, where he served as head coach for four years. There, Perrelle led the Pacers to a pair of conference runnerup finishes and a trip to the ECAC semifinals in 2015. Marywood had a conference win percentage of 71 percent during his tenure - highest in the history of the Colonial States Athletics Conference. Perrelle then spent two years as an assistant at Division II University of Tampa, where he coached five All-Americans, a conference player of the year and seven all-conference players. IN 2019, Tampa won its sixth straight Sunshine State Conference title, advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals and earned a No. 8 national ranking. He coached the team's offense, which produced 309 goals (14.7/game), third-most in the nation. At Marist, Perrelle helped guide the Red Foxes through two COVID-affected seasons. In the shortened 2020 season, two of the team's wins came against America East squads and the other was a win over ninth-ranked Army - the highest-ranked team Marist has beaten in program history. The 2021 Marist squad went 3-1 in an abbreviated season and reached the MAAC quarterfinals.

"It was a no brainer to bring back Tyler to the Binghamton Lacrosse program," McKeown added. "He is one of the most decorated players in program history and is very motivated to achieve success here as a coach. Tyler will bring some great ideas on the offensive side, where we return nearly every player from last season."
